Fairly rubbish pics and video from last months RAS Mumhan, taken mostly from inside the car and at the side of the finish circuit on the last day. Wasn't going to put these up, but hey, someone out there might be interested in them.

This weekend will be a busy one for Comeragh Competitors. In action at the Munster 3-day will be David Butler, Martin Cullinane, Thomas Lavery, Finbar Power and Aubrey Storey with Cian Power supplying back up for the lads just in case of punctures etc, we wish them all the best in what is always a very competitive race.
Up north at the Tour of Ulster will be one of the final preparation races for the FBD Ras in 2 weeks time, Mark Nugent, Keith Gater, Robin Kelly and Don Feighery will be joined for the weekend by Marting Gill who will put on a comeragh jersey to complete the 5 man team, all the best to them in what should be a fantastic race over very hill roads. Sinead and self Conor will be traveling to help out.
In case you are wondering what the huge knife is about, thats what's waiting for Mark Nugent if he brings my TT bike back damaged. Good luck Mark !

Many thanks to all who turned up to support our quiz night on Monday last. We had a pretty good turnout and a good night was had by all with a few quid raised along the way. Flash is quite the host and it was a lively event, pretty different to the quizes we have had in the past. The winners were David Quigleys team - Worship my superior intellect dumbasses! Martin Cullinane/Pat Brennan's team - the wonderfully named "Four-Nicators" was in second, whilst the three amigo's up in the picture there won the "special" prize.

Another strong performance for Comeragh in Cork on Sunday. In the A race the bunch went off the line at a brisk pace but not flat out until they turned onto the main road whereupon the attacks started. Nothing got established until the end of the first lap when Conor McGrath attacked alone, and was joined after about 3 km by Ray Clarke and a Limerick rider. That group stayed clear until near the end of second lap where they were joined by a larger group containing 5 more comeragh riders: Don, Keith, Mark, Robin and Tommy. Everyone worked well together with Keith very unfortunate to suffer a "minor" mechanical issue when his crank fell off!! Comeragh tried to keep it together covering and countering moves hoping to launch one of our own to the line, but on the last lap our training partner from the Canaries, Dan Morrisseys Hugh Mulhearne slipped away with Stephen Barrett of Fermoy and with the Comeragh riders tiring slightly we could not bring them back.
Robin ended up taking 4th with Don 9th and Conor 10th. David Butler finished in the main bunch whilst in the C race Martin Cullinane and Eoin O'Shea did well but failed to get in the early break (which caught a lot of riders out), they will get a chance to show their strength again shortly.....

A short clip from proud dad Conor and son Daragh's recent trip to Ballyhoura. This 10 second clip is of Conor following Daragh around one of the trails. Watch for camerman Conor showing Daragh the quickest way to dismount at the end. I think thats your career as a motorbike cameraman on the Tour over Conor. On the plus side however it looks like we have another promising cyclist from the McGrath stable in the making. Yes I said stable because they're all bleedin horses.

As many competitive cyclists/race organisers have probably noticed, it always seems to be the same faces Commissairing races week in week out throughout the entire season.
With almost 240 competitive events registered on the Cycling Ireland Calendar for 2009, the pressure on the small number of Commissaires in existence will be as great as ever.
As a result Cycling Ireland are looking for anybody from ALL regions interested in becoming a Commissaire to help reduce the workload on the existing ones.
A 2 Day course will be held on the weekend of 21/22nd February which will cover Road, Track and Cyclo Cross with an exam to be taken at the end.
If interested or for more info, contact Gary McIlroy @ 086-4088822 or e mail garymcilroy83@hotmail.com

Report by Tommy Fanning.
oh oh...that time of year again
A big get well soon to TC (Tom Casey - Ironman Supremo) Unfortunately on yesterdays Sunday spin a couple of riders hit the deck coming into Portlaw. Philip lavery was the first to grace us with a fine Pirouette and then the house of cards came tumbling down. Most of us jumped up and dusted ourselves off, in total i think four riders came down. Tom looked a little worse for wear but he said he was okay. He rang the wife for a lift home as he was in some discomfort.
I've just got the call this morning from the bro "colin" to say Tom was in hospital under going some type of surgery, he was'nt to clear but as far as he knows some damage has been done to his hip and mainly the femur in his leg.
We wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing you out on the bike soon.

A quick note to thanks those of you who turned up for our Annual Quiz and helped to make it into a success (shame on you if you didn't!).
The following are the Comeragh winners of the Seaview Celtic Draw.
Eoin McGrath Sporthouse, Butlerstown €380 Furniture voucher
G.N. Construction Fiddown, Piltown €125
Karen Flynn Iniscarragh Turkstown Piltown Tramore Annual Pass x 2
Declan McGrath Kilronan Lane, Butlerstown Sporthouse Travel Bag
Many thanks to the 40 or so of you who made the effort to turn up to our recent prize night, especially those of you who travelled from Wexford, Carrick, Dungarvan etc... It was a great turnout for the event and a good night was had by all, despite the fact that most of you lightweights went home to bed early leaving myself, Robin, Tommy and of course the stalwarts from the committee (who quite frankly deserved a drink after marshalling every single night during the summer league) to fly the Comeragh flag late into the night.
25 Pictures in the gallery HERE Thanks to Cian Power for the photo's. If anyone wants a larger better quality version for their own clubs websites just give me a shout on davidquigley@comeraghcc.com and I will sort you out.

This year we have decided to change the timing of the AGM, this will now take place
on Thursday November 13th at 8.00pm in the meeting rooms beside St.Pauls National
School. For those at last years meeting it is the room behind the room we used last
year. Minutes from last years meeting will be sent out to all club members in the next
week as well as an Agenda for this years meeting. The change in the time of having
the meeting is that we should be having our meeting before the CI AGM each year and
the club should be registering in Dec for the 2009 season. With one of the Topics on the
agenda being the possability of entering a team into the 2009 FBD Insurance Ras, this
will give us time to do whatever is necessary for us to be in a position to enter a team.

Each year we get the opportunity in Nov to hold a table quiz in the Showboat Lounge,
the glen, Waterford. Time 9.00pm Teams of 4. This is an opportunity not only for
club members to get together and have a laugh but also to raise some easy money
for the club. This can only happen if members pull together and bring along family, friends
to make up teams. Each year the triathlon club have outnumbered comeragh cc members so
it would be nice this year if the roles could be reversed. Looking forward to seeing you all there.
