Munster TT Champs Gold

David Quigley was Comeragh CC’s sole representative at the Munster Time Trial Championships which were held in wet and windy conditions in Patrickswell, Co. Limerick on Thursday evening last.
Following a 45 minute delay spent standing in the rain (which some of the more experienced, top competitors spent sheltered and warming up on rollers - a lesson learned for the future), a soaked and shivering Quigley unsurprisingly got off to a poor start. His evening got worse, narrowly avoiding wipeout on a treacherous rain soaked roundabout at the turnaround causing him to lose a few more precious seconds and leaving him with a lot to do in order to overturn a deficit at the halfway mark.
Nonetheless, he recovered well on the return leg to claim the Gold medal in the A4 category, covering the 18.5km course in 26:06 at an average pace of 42.5kph, 34 seconds ahead of the runner up and pre-race red hot favourite, reigning European junior triathlon champion, Mike Yelverton of Cycling Pursuits / Limerick Tri Club.
