Get Well Soon Finbarr!

Written by Conor on April 16, 2010 under Club News.

In Carlow last Sunday our own Finbarr Power had a nasty fall, he was however lucky to come out of it with no really serious injuries, a few cracked ribs, cuts and bruises.  Finbarr had only just taken delivery of a new bike during the week before, however he selected not to ride it on Sunday !!

Below is a Happy looking Finbarr, picture taken last Saturday with his new bike, get well soon Finbarr.

    Finbar,

I remember doing that race a few years ago (Robin Kellys first road race?) and thinking I would’nt go back unless they filled the gigantic potholes on the long descent off the hill as they were lethal. The organisers were good enough to circle them but as you may have found out that isn’t much help when you are in a bunch! I assume the potholes are worse now after all the snow and ice in the last few winters. The potholes forced me into adopting the tactic of dropping myslef way off the back of the bunch on the ascent of the hill and doing the remainder of the course on my own although I was forced into not completing the final lap due to extreme fatigue caused by a lack of training. I believe Robin adoapted a similar tactical approach but he finished the race, a sign of things which have since come to pass.

I miss you Finbarr…..please live through this one!

Any man that rode that other machine for so long and so successful, deserves a gold medal.I hear he led the pelaton up the Glen Gesh Pass last year on it.I am sure it will only be a short while before he christens the new one with a win.Best of luck
